Drug pusher nabbed, P88,000 shabu seized in Bacolod drug sting


BACOLOD CITY – A suspected drug pusher was arrested and shabu valued at P88,000 were seized in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Vista Alegre here Thursday, Aug. 18.

Police identified the suspect as Julius Sumpio, 50, a former tricycle driver, of Barangay Vista Alegre and a street level individual.

Recovered from the suspect was 13 grams of suspected shabu worth P88,400, P500 marked money, and P300.

Police Capt. Elmer Bonilla, head of Police Station 7, said that Sumpio was arrested in a buy-bust operation in 2002 and served 18 years at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City. He was released in 2019.

Bonilla said that Sumpio drove a tricycle after his release. However, he allegedly returned to peddling illegal drugs because his income was not enough.

Sumpio is detained at Police Station 7.
