TIAONG, Quezon -- Tiaong mayor Vincent Arjay Mea and the members of Sangguniang Bayan expressed confidence that the public schools administrators and teachers are ready for the return of face-to-face classes starting Aug. 22 in this town.
The mayor, the local lawmakers headed by vice-mayor Dick Umali, and councilors Eula Lopez, Jonas Brayson Atienza, Tom Ilao, and Maja Escueta visited the teachers, school heads and supervisor on Thursday, Aug. 18, to make sure that schools are following the safety protocols guidelines provided by the Department of Health (DOH) and hopeful that all teachers are already vaccinated.
“Our foremost objectives are to secure pupils, that is why the LGU is assured in supporting and finding ways to meet the schools need," said Mea.
On physical aspects, Mea will prioritize the repair and rehabilitation of rooms, provide isolation areas, water facilities, supplies and health kits while there is still threat of disease.
He mentioned that he is asking the support of Vice-President and Department of Education Secretary Sara Duterte for additional classrooms in this town.
Tiaong has a total of 35 elementary schools in 31 barangays.
At present, the LGU has a P7-million budget for all school necessities. Mea said the council will try to increase the funds allotted for educational programs.
"Inuna namin ipinaayus ang may mga sirang classrooms na kelangan magamit sa pagbubukas ng klase bilang suporta ng LGU sa Brigada Eskwela 2022 ng DepEd (We fixed destroyed rooms as part of our contributions to the DepEd’s Brigada Eskwela 2022),” said Mea, who also urged all barangay officials to support the teachers in their task.
