Police arrest man for killing wife in Pamplona, Cagayan

CAMP MARCELO A ADDURU, Tuguegarao City – Police arrested a man who killed his wife during a hot pursuit operation on Tuesday, Aug. 16, in Purok 6, Barangay Gattu, Pamplona, Cagayan.

A belated report from the Police Regional Office 2 (PRO2) indicated that a case of parricide has already been filed against Relix Pagarigan, 49, for killing his wife, Evangeline Pagarigan, 50.

A post mortem examination of the victim's body showed that the cause of death was asphyxia secondary to suffocation.

The Pamplona Philippine National Police said the victim's face was covered with a pillow and that she was suffocated on Aug. 15.

Police theorized the motive behind the killing could be jealousy since the wife allegedly had a textmate.

The husband later said he regretted what he did to his wife and apologized to the relatives of his wife.

The accused is in the custody of the local police here.
