Gordon expresses gratitude for PH Red Cross staff, volunteers on World Humanitarian Day 2022

Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Richard Gordon expressed his gratitude to PRC staff and volunteers for their utmost humanitarian service in line with the upcoming celebration of World Humanitarian Day 2022 on Aug. 19.

"Sa pagdiriwang natin ng World Humanitarian Day, taos-puso kong pinasasalamatan ang lahat ng ating mga volunteer, staff, at donor na mula sa iba’t ibang larangan at sektor ng lipunan at nagkakaisa upang maisakatuparan ang layunin ng Red Cross (In celebration of World Humanitarian Day, I sincerely thank all of our volunteers, staff, and donor from different sectors of our society who also unite to execute the mission of Red Cross)," said Gordon.

World Humanitarian Day is an international celebration held every 19th of August to honor humanitarian personnel as well as those who have lost their lives for humanitarian causes.

With this year's theme "It Takes a Village," Gordon also encouraged more Filipinos to join the organization and take part in building a "village of heroes."

"PRC volunteers continue to inspire more communities as they share their resources, time, and efforts to build bigger and stronger villages of humanitarian workers to alleviate human suffering," PRC said.

Some of the major services that the PRC provides are blood services, disaster management services, safety services, health services, social services, red cross youth, and volunteer services.

The organization, through its Red Cross 143 program, promotes a culture of "self-help" in the communities, PRC added.

It is done by developing a network of volunteers trained to predict potential risk, plan, prepare, and practice effective community-based disaster risk reduction, PRC concluded.
