'Steadfast' troopers seize firearms, explosives from Reds in Bulacan clash


Members of the 80th Infantry Battalion (IB), Philippine Army (PA), recovered firearms and explosives during an encounter with members of the Communist New People’s Army Terrorists (CNTs) in Sitio Sapang Munti, Barangay San Mateo, Norzagaray, Bulacan over the weekend.

CoI. Charlie A. Cabradilla, acting Bulacan police director, said the encounter ensued between an infantry squad from A/80IB and around five CNTs believed to be members of Platoon 1 Sentro de Grabidad (SDG), Komiteng Larangan Girilya (KLG) Narciso, Sub-Regional Military Area (SRMA) 4A, Southern Tagalog Regional Party Committee (STRPC), in Sitio Sapang Munti, Brgy. San Mateo, Norzagaray on Saturday, Aug. 13.

The soldiers, who were conducting security operations, engaged the group of CNTs and a firefight ensued for about five minutes. The CNTs left trails of blood at the encounter site.

The soldiers were able to confiscate one Assault Rifle, 5.56mm: M16 with one short magazine and 9 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition; one 9mm pistol with two magazines with 18 rounds of ammunition; one cal.45 pistol with two magazines and 27 rounds of ammunition; two hand grenades, two backpacks containing subversive documents, and other personal belongings.

There were no casualties reported on the side of the government troops.

Cabradilla said the Bulacan Philippine National Police and the 80IB PA, will continue their operations against the Communist-Terrorist Groups (CTGs) to ensure that communities are safe from the threat groups.
