Rookie K-pop group NewJeans tops weekly physical album chart in Korea 


Rookie K-pop girl group NewJeans topped the weekly physical album chart in Korea two weeks after their official debut.

Korea’s Hanteo Chart announced that NewJeans’ debut album “New Jeans,” which was released on Aug. 1, sold 311,271 copies and garnered a physical record index of 368,387.34 from Aug. 8 to 14 to grab the No. 1 spot on the weekly physical album chart.

The total also represents the first-week sales of “New Jeans,” which sold 262,815 copies on the first day of release on Aug. 8.

NewJeans members are Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin And Hyein. They are the first group that debuted under HYBE’s independent label ADOR (All Door One Room) led by Min Hee-jin.

In ranking albums, Hanteo Chart now uses the “physical record index,” which incorporates the release price of an album.
