DOH reports 28,008 new Covid-19 cases in the past week


The Department of Health (DOH) has recorded 28,008 new Covid-19 cases in the past week, it said on Monday, Aug. 15.

According to the agency's weekly case bulletin, average daily cases is 3 percent higher than cases from Aug. 1 to Aug. 7 at 4,001.

Currently there are 822 patients with severe and critical Covid-19 infection admitted composing 9.6 percent of the total Covid-19 admissions.

Meanwhile, 719 out of 2,571 or 28.0 percent of Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds are being used while 6,781 out of 21,968 or 30.9 percent of non-ICU beds are being utilized.

On the other hand, DOH has recorded 229 more deaths due to Covid-19, 98 of which occurred from Aug. 1 to Aug. 14.

Of the 229 deaths, 98 occurred in August 2022, 129 in July 2022, one in June 2022, and one in September 2021.

As of Aug. 14, DOH said that 72,107,090 individuals have been fully-vaccinated while 17,015,413 have received booster shots.
