149 new soldiers for Western, Central Visayas


ILOILO CITY – The Army 3rd Infantry Division (3rd ID) has 149 new soldiers for Western Visayas and Central Visayas.

They graduated last week with the rank of Private First Class in Camp Peralta, the 3rd ID headquarters in Jamindan, Capiz.

“Put your hearts and minds to be a well-disciplined soldier,” 3rd ID commander Major Gen. Benedict Arevalo told the newly minted soldiers.

They had seven months of training at the 3rd ID Training School where they learned fundamentals of soldiery and instilled with the Army’s core values of honor, duty, and patriotism.

Private John Mark Tuyab from Bogo City, Cebu received the 3rd ID Commander’s Award with a general point average of 90.64 percent.

Private Aldrin Velos of Badian, Cebu bagged the Chief of Staff Award with a general point average of 90.11 percent.

Private James Mangubat from Cebu was conferred the Commandant’s Award with a general point average of 90.06 percent.

These new soldiers will boost the government’s fight against the New People’s Army (NPA) in the two regions.
