Marcos met with DTI to discuss prices of fertilizers —Angeles


President and Agriculture Secretary Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr. has met with Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Alfredo E. Pascual to talk about the prices of fertilizers in the country, Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles said on Friday, August 12.

In a “Laging Handa” briefing, Angeles said the formal plans of the President about the agriculture sector are now in motion.

“Kasi kinausap niya ang ibang mga stakeholders tungkol dito, ni-note nya po ‘yung presyo ng fertilizers (Because he already talked with the stakeholders about this, and he noted that the prices of fertilizers). So he met with the DTI secretary to address the issue,” she said when asked about the plans of the president and agriculture secretary on the agriculture sector amid looming crisis following tensions between China and the United States.

“So ‘yun po ngayon ang very particular action niya on this matter (So that’s his very particular action on this matter).”

Angeles said a more comprehensive plan will be laid out by the Marcos Administration soon

In July, Marcos announced that he is willing to pursue government-to-government (G2G) deals as he seeks to address the increasing prices of fertilizers

The chief executive believes that the government could avail of cheaper fertilizers through the G2G deals.

Marcos said he is eyeing striking deals with China, Indonesia, United Arab Emirates, Malaysia, and Russia for the country’s procurement of fertilizers.
