DOH records 225 more Omicron subvariant cases


The Department of Health (DOH) reported on Friday, Aug. 12 the detection of 225 more cases of Omicron subvariants in the country.

Based on the latest genome sequencing results, DOH Officer-in-Charge Maria Rosario Vergeire disclosed that they have detected 190 additional cases of BA.5 subvariant.

According to her, 162 were from Region 11, 23 from Region 12; three were from BARMM, and one each from CARAGA and the National Capital Region (NCR) tested positive for the BA.5 variant

She stated that 175 of them are now tagged as recovered, 7 are still undergoing isolation, while the outcome of the rest are being verified.

On the other hand, 34 additional BA.4 cases were also detected.

Vergeire said that 23 were from Region 12 while 11 from Region 11 tested positive for the BA.4 variant.

She mentioned that 33 individuals are now tagged as recovered, while the outcome of the remaining case is still being verified.

Meanwhile, one individual from Region 11 tested positive for the BA.2.12.1 variant and has been tagged as recovered.
