Chlorine worth P61 sends worker to jail

CEBU CITY -- A 28-year-old worker of a food manufacturing company in Compostela town, northern Cebu was arrested on suspicion that he stole a pack of chlorine worth P61.

Florito Puyos Pelit, a resident of Barangay Don Gregorio Antigua, Borbon, Cebu, was caught allegedly trying to sneak out the company-owned item during a routine inspection past 5 p.m. on Friday, August 12, said Lt. Andrew Montesclaros Rellanos, chief of Compostela Police Station.

The man was on his way home when he was checked by security guard Jubert Luchavez, police said.

The company called the police when the pack of chlorine was found in the worker’s bag.

Police said the worker is facing a charge for qualified theft.

Police said the management has enforced a strict routine inspection on its employees due to a series of theft incidents in the company.
