Balanga bishop urges Catholics to pray for Pope Francis

Pope Francis (MANILA BULLETIN)

Balanga City Bishop Ruperto C. Santos, chairman of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines-Episcopal Commission on Pontificio Collegio Filipino, has called on the faithful to pray for the health of Pope Francis amid rumors of the Holy Father’s impending resignation due to health concerns.

Santos said the faithful must always pray for the Pontiff to remain in good health for him to better serve the Church and the more than a billion Catholic faithful around the world.

“Let us always turn to prayers and entrust everything to God’s mercy and will. We turn to prayers for the world we live in, for our loved ones, and especially for our dearest and beloved Holy Father whom we affectionately call Lolo Kiko,” he said over Radio Veritas.

“In these uncertain times of pandemic, war and weather disturbances, we look up to God for His protection, guidance and for His healing,” he added.

The Church leader appealed to the faithful not to believe in everything that they read especially with the proliferation of fake news so as to avoid confusion.

As has been reported, Pope Francis is said to be suffering from knee problems that has resulted in the cancellation of some of his public engagements.
