DAVAO CITY – The Apo Agua Infrastructura Inc turned over additional water pipeline to the Barangay Tawantawan in Baguio District on Thursday, August 11, in continuation of its commitment to their host communities here.

Present during the turnover of the water pipelines were (R-L) Congressman Isidro Ungab, Davao City Water District General Manager Mildred Aviles, Apo Agua Operations Head Shake A. Tuason, Apo Agua Project Manager Dorcas Ho, Tawantawan Barangay Kagawad Jimmy Enoch, and Davao City Third District Councilor Alberto “Abet” Ungab. (Photo courtesy of Ivy Tejano)

Representative Alberto Ungab (Third Congressional District), Tawantawan barangay chieftain Ricardo Gierran, barangay councilor Jimmy Enoch and Water District manager Mildred Aviles, received the water pipeline donation measuring 2,220 meters.

Gierran said that the barangay will use the donated pipelines to expand its existing water system, which will help augment its water supply distribution. He added that this additional pipeline will complete Tawantawan’s second water pipeline system.

The second water pipeline system will connect the newly built water reservoir in the barangay to the water source that is already being used. This would improve the lives of more than 600 homes and contribute to increasing the barangay’s water supply, which is urgently needed.

Gierran said this donation from the Apo Agua is a big help to their community as this is one of their foremost problems in the barangay. He added that they are already using the pipes, and it has served more water to 600 households.

“We thank Apo Agua for providing us with additional pipes that increased our water distribution. Seven puroks from our barangay have benefited from this project,” said Elma Casinillo, a member of the Tawantawan’s Barangay Waterworks and Sanitation Association (BWASA).

The barangay also expressed its gratitude to the corporation for conducting an informative water system management that helps improve their water system maintenance and operations.

The barangay is hoping to have more projects with the Apo Agua for the benefit of its residents.
