SITG formed to solve murder of village chair in Cagayan


RIZAL, Cagayan – The Cagayan police formed a Special Investigation Task Group to solve the killing of Chairman Roberto de Ocampo of Barangay Anurturu here Wednesday, August 10.

Police Capt. Isabelita Gano, Cagayan police information officer, said investigators are still gathering information that would lead to the arrest of the gunmen.

They have looked at closed-circuit television cameras in Barangay Gumarueng, Piat, this province, hoping to find clues, Gano added.

“Ilang CCTV na sa barangay ang tinitignan para makakuha ng lead kung sino responsable sa pamamaril (Investigators have looked into several CCTVs in the area to get leads on the case and identify the gunmen).”

Police Col. Renell R Sabaldica, Cagayan police director, has alerted all police stations for the possible arrest of the gunmen onboard a motorcycle.

The 50-year-old De Ocampo was gunned down in Barangay Gumarueng while driving his Elf truck Wednesday at 3 p.m.

The victim was with his wife Leonora on their way here when he was shot.

De Ocampo sustained multiple bullet wounds.

His truck veered off the highway and ended up in a ricefield.

Responding police officers found the victim barely breathing and rushed him to the Tuao District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
