The 12 drug surrenderees from Barangay Subabasbas and another one from Barangay Talima received P5,000 each after they graduated from their Community-Based Drug Rehabilitation Program (CBDRP).

The livelihood cash assistance was given by the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO).

Garry Lao, executive director of the City of Lapu-Lapu Office for Substance Abuse Prevention (CLOSAP), said the 13 CBDRP graduates will undergo an aftercare program.

This will enable the CSWDO to asses if the graduates will qualify to avail of its sustainable livelihood programs.

"The program of the city government, through the CSWDO, is a big help for them to provide additional income for their families and of course, to get rid of engaging in illegal activities," Lao said.

CSWDO focal person Michael Espinosa said the 13 drug surrenderees were the first batch who received financial assistance as part of the office’s livelihood program.
