Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia said one of the measures being considered is the installing of signal jammers within CCSC where the showdown of Pasigarbo sa Sugbo contingents will take place.

“We will have to jam the signal within Abellana grounds because it’s possible we might have VVIPs (very very important persons) around,” Garcia told all mayors of Cebu during their meeting Tuesday, August 9, at the Capitol Social Hall.

Cutting off cellphone signals was practiced in previous editions of Cebu City’s Sinulog Festival.

If cell phone signals will be cut off during the event, those who intend to watch the showdown can tune in to the event’s online livestream.

It has been agreed that this year’s Pasigarbo will feature an online voting segment wherein the public can choose their favorite contingents.

Results of the online voting will be part of the criteria for judging at 20 percent.

“This time we thought that we would level the playing field so everybody will be given a chance whether or not you have the track record of having a very good festival,” said Garcia.

Also, those who will take part in the online voting will have a chance to win a car as a grand prize.

This year’s Pasigarbo will be contested by 50 contingents from different localities in Cebu.

Pasigarbo is one of the highlights of the provincial government’s month-long celebration of its 453rd Founding Anniversary.
