The local government of Las Piñas City announced the opening of Las Piñas Nursery and Botanical Garden to the public on August 10.
In a Facebook post, the Las Piñas Public Information Office said the garden located in Barangay Pamplona Uno on Alabang-Zapote Road is open to the public from Monday to Saturday at 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The garden is also open every Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon only.
The city government closed the garden on February for renovation to make it appealing to visitors, most especially to children.
The botanical garden was formally opened to the public on August 1, which is part of the city government clean and green campaign to attract local and foreign tourists.
The garden was closed in February for some improvements, including the constructions of bahay kubo (nipa hut), wooden benches around the place where visitors can relax, and a picnic ground.
Mayor Imelda Aguilar said the botanical garden being managed by the City Environment and Natural Resources (CENRO) is one of the city’s tourist attractions.
Aguilar said the botanical garden was opened to the public, especially for the “plantitas and plantitos”, during the peak of Covid-19 pandemic.
She added that the botanical garden has been giving away flowers and vegetable seeds as well as fertilizers to some visitors.
The mayor said one of the new attractions at the botanical garden for the enjoyment of the children is the big “Voltes 5” robot.
Aguilar said local and foreign tourists can enjoy the greenery of the surrounding. The whole place is full of different kinds of plants and vegetables.
She also said flowers and other plants placed around the city came from the botanical garden.
The mayor reminded visitors at the botanical garden to continue observing the health protocols.
