Blackwater set to tap Cameron Krutwig as Comm’s Cup import

Blackwater is looking to improve its short but impressive all-Filipino Cup run by tapping 6-foot-9 center Cameron Krutwig as its reinforcement in the 2022 PBA Commissioner's Cup.

Kurtwig is set to arrive in the country on Aug. 14 before his scheduled mandatory height measurement in the PBA office the following day.

The 23-year-old big man had been playing with Telenet Giants Antwerp in Belgium’s Pro Basketball League for two years already. He averaged 10 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.4 assists for the Giants in the 2022-23 FIBA Europe Cup.

Krutwig was best remembered for his contributions to the Loyola Chicago team during his playing years in the US NCAA in 2018 when he helped his team to make a rare Final Four appearance.

In Blackwater, he is expected to plug the hole inside the paint – a waterloo that was exposed during its quarterfinals series against San Miguel in Philippine Cup.

Krutwig will also have enough time to get accustomed to the Bossing’s brand of play as he is already set to join the team for its scheduled Dubai trip for the International Basketball Championship on Aug. 20-27.
