In a Facebook post on Monday, Aug. 8, Marcos congratulated the team for winning its over 100-medal haul in various disciplines during the regional meet held in Indonesia.

"Binabati natin ang ating mga kampeon sa katatapos lamang na 2022 ASEAN Para Games na ginanap sa Indonesia. Pinatunayan nila na hindi hadlang ang kanilang kapansanan upang makamit ang tagumpay (We are congratulating our champions in the recently concluded 2022 ASEAN Para Games held in Indonesia. They have proven that their disabilities are not a hindrance in reaching victory)," the President said.

"Ang kanilang katatagan at dedikasyon ay isang mabuting huwaran sa bawat kabataang nangangarap maging isang atleta (Their determination and dedication is worthy of emulation by every aspiring athlete)," he added.

The para-athletes brought home 28 gold, 31 silver, and 47 bronze medals, competing in 14 disciplines.

This record is their best-ever finish, topping their previous medal haul of 24-24-26 in the tournament's 2009 edition in Kuala Lumpur.
