DOH reports 27,331 new Covid-19 cases in the past week


The Department of Health (DOH) has recorded 27,331 new Covid-19 cases in the past week, it said on Monday, Aug. 8.

According to the agency's weekly case bulletin, daily average cases are currently at 3,904 which is 13 percent higher than cases from July 25 to July 31.

DOH also recorded 76 Covid-19 cases tagged under several and critical cases which is 0.28 percent of the new cases.

Currently, there are 772 patients with severe and critical Covid-19 infection admitted which is 9.3 percent of the total Covid-19 admissions.

On the other hand, 624 out of 2,514 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds or 24.8 percent are being utilized while 6,648 out of 21,548 Non-ICU beds are being used or 30.9 percent.

Meanwhile, DOH also recorded 80 deaths due to Covid-19. Of this, 32 occurred between July 25 to Aug. 7.

Of the 80 deaths, eight occurred in August, 24 in July, five in March, seven in February, four in January, one in October 2021, nine in September 2021, eight in August 2021, three in July 2021, two in June 2021, three in May 2021, five in April 2021, and one in March 2021.

In terms of Covid-19 vaccination, as of Aug. 7, a total of 71,898,721 individuals have been fully-vaccinated while 16,603,097 have received booster doses.
