Muntinlupa Mayor Ruffy Biazon and members of the Muntinlupa City Council signed a resolution extolling the late former President Fidel V. Ramos, who passed away on July 31 at age 94, and condoling with the Ramos family.

In a resolution, they cited Ramos’ contributions to the development of Muntinlupa.

“FVR, as he is fondly known and called, was not only a long time resident of Muntinlupa City but was also the President who signed the bill into law Republic Act 7926, otherwise known as the law that converted the then Municipality of Muntinlupa into a Highly Urbanized City to be known as the City of Muntinlupa,” according to Muntinlupa Resolution No. 2022-019.

Ramos signed the Muntinlupa cityhood law on March 1, 1995 in Malacanang in the presence of Muntinlupa officials including then Mayor Ignacio Bunye.

The resolution also cited Ramos for being “instrumental in the conversion of the 244-hectare Alabang Stockfarm into what is now known as Filinvest Corporate City, a mixed commercial-residential development that brought about further development and progress in the City of Muntinlupa.”

It also stated that it was during Ramos’ term as president from 1992 to 1998 that the Skyway from Makati to Alabang was built, “facilitating travel to and from Muntinlupa and increasing the values of real estate properties in the city.”

According to Biazon and the Muntinlupa City Council, Ramos “deserves to be recognized and commended for his invaluable contribution in making Muntinlupa one of the leading Highly Urbanized Cities in the country today.”
