The Department of Public Works and Highways-Quirino District Engineering Office reported that the concreting of a 500-meter road linking western Nagtipunan, Quirino and Nueva Vizcaya has been completed.

Remote barangays in this area in Quirino now have easy access to services in town with the concreting of Junction Abbag-Nagtipunan-Nueva Vizcaya Road via Dupax.

District Engineer Lorna B. Asuten stressed that DPWH will continue the roadway improvement, especially the road opening along with the Bucao-La Conwap Section, which will adjoin the existing Mactol Bucao Section, Missing Link Project of the DPWH Regional Office 2.

“One of the biggest issues of Barangay Keat and Matmad is the lack of connectivity when it comes to community involvement and development,” said Engr. Asuten.

“When these two sections are finally linked, they will no longer struggle to walk along the forested area for several days to avail of basic services in the nearest towns,” she added.

Meanwhile, the district said that another two-kilometer road opening and concreting is underway in the Mactol-Bucao to BucaoLa Conwap sections.

Asuten is optimistic that this project will be completed early this year.

Included in the P12.5-Million project scope of works are the concreting of main carriageway and installation of chevrons.
