PNP, private helicopters make emergency landing in Quezon due to bad weather

Two Philippine National Police (PNP) Airbus helicopters and a private helicopter made an emergency landing due to heavy rain and zero visibility in Tagkawayan and Pagbilao, Quezon Friday, August 5.

The Quezon Police Provincial Office (QPPO) said the PNP helicopters were piloted by Police Major Leah Mary Jun Amogius and Police Master Sgt. Regie Charias and had five PNP members and two civilians as passengers.

The two helicopters left Catarman, Samar at 10:30 a.m. in a convoy to Manila.

However, they executed emergency landing due to poor visibility and bad weather at Bayview Accommodation helipad in Barangay Bantigue in Pagbilao and left at 3:50 p.m.

The third helicopter with tail number RP-C8500 piloted by Louie Leonardo Ibarra with flight mechanic James Loyd Jardin which left Legazpi City at 6:25 a.m. made an emergency landing at the seashore of Barangay Sabang in Tagkawayan due to heavy rains and zero visibility at 7:55 a.m.

No untoward incident occurred during the emergency landings and no one was hurt. They reached their destinations.
