Taguig LGU helps 30 families affected by fire 


The Taguig City government provided help to 30 families or 129 individuals who were affected by a fire that hit a residential area on Aug. 4.

According to the Taguig City Fire Station, the fire started at No. 47 Purok 1 A, DOTC Compound in Barangay New Lower Bicutan.

Firefighters raised the first alarm at 1:40 p.m. and the fire was put out at 2:49 p.m. No one was injured in the blaze, which damaged about P600,000 worth of properties. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

According to Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano, the city government immediately sent food packs, hygiene kits, sleeping kits and financial assistance to the affected families.

Taguig-Pateros Rep. Ricardo Cruz Jr. also provided groceries, vitamins and other personal items.

The mayor added that Senator Alan Peter Cayetano gave P10,000 to each family, which can be used for their needs or for a small business.

She said the affected families are currently staying at RP Cruz Elementary School.
