‘PBBM would do well to emulate FVR’–Makabayan


Makabayan bloc congressmen have condoled with the family of late President Fidel V. Ramos (FVR), adding that incumbent President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. should emulate Ramos’s example “on the question of peace".

“The Makabayan bloc in Congress extends its condolences to the family and friends of former Pres. Fidel Valdez Ramos,” Makabayan said in a statement, Thursday, Aug. 4.

“He was a leader who understood that for our country to prosper we need peace based on justice and that it can only be attained by addressing the root causes of armed conflict,” they added.

“Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. would do well to follow his example on the question of peace,” the militant solons added.

In a press conference earlier Thursday, Makabayan member ACT Teachers Party-list Rep. France Castro extolled the past Ramos administration’s push for peace in the country .

“Mahalaga yung ginampanan ng kanyang administrasyon doon sa pagsulong ng peace process ng Pilipinas, yung sa NDFP (National Democratic Front of the Philippines) (His administration played an important role in promoting the Philippines’ peace process with the NDFP),” the teacher-lawmaker said.

“Ito yung isa sa mga legacy na gusto natin pahalagahan (This is one of his legacies that we want to recognize),” she concluded.
