Zamboanga City mayor catches Covid-19


DALIPE
ZAMBOANGA CITY -- Mayor John Dalipe here has tested positive for Covid-19.

An official statement made on social media by the Zamboanga city government said Dalipe learned about his health status after undergoing an RT-PCR test last Monday, August 1, as a requirement for attending the League of Cities meeting.

He is reported to be asymptomatic.

“Mayor John assures his constituents that he will continue to discharge his duties and responsibilIties as mayor and assures that the government transactions and services remain unhampered while completing his mandatory isolation,” said the statement.

Dalipe tasked City Administrator retired Gen. Mario Yanga to be the officer-in-charge during his mandatory isolation.

Dalipe announced his positive status amid the recent surge in Covid-19 cases in this city.

On July 30, the City Health Office reported a total of 161 active Covid-19 cases.
