RIZAL, Kalinga -- Thirty-two bettors were arrested as police raided an illegal cockfighting business on Tuesday afternoon, August 2, in Barangay Babalag East, Rizal, Kalinga.
The Kalinga Provincial Police personnel swooped down on the area where the illegal cockfighting or ‘tupada’ was happening at around 3:30 in the afternoon, after receiving a tip from a concerned citizen.
According to the Rizal Municipal Police Station, those arrested are all residents of the neighboring province of Cagayan, who came for illegal cockfighting.
Those arrested along with the confiscated evidence were taken to the Rizal MPS for proper documentation and inquest proceeding.
"This should serve as a warning to those who engage in such activities. We encourage citizens to report illegal activities in their area through our police hotlines or social media,” said Col. Peter Tagtag, Jr., provincial director.
