"In the areas of CAR and Region 1 the August 1 hearing has been extended and will be reset on August 15, 2022," Comelec Acting Spokesperson John Rex Laudiangco said in a press briefing in Manila, Wednesday, August 3.

"Because of this resetting, the last day to file oppositions on all the applications filed will be on August 8," he added.

Comelec Chairman George Garcia said the en banc decided to defer the ERB hearing as the said araes are still experiencing aftershocks.

"It's still dangerous because there are still aftershocks in the area and they still have to verify the integrity of the buildings and offices that we have," he said.

"In fact, this morning I instructed the Office of the Chairman t direct all our field personnel to verify and determine the status of the integrity of all our offices especially in areas affected by the earthquake," added Garcia.

The Comelec earlier explained that the applications filed during the voter registration period are subject to approval or denial by the respective ERB.
