OCTA logs very high Covid positivity rates in Capiz, Aklan, Antique


ILOILO CITY – Three provinces in Western Visayas registered high positivity rates for Covid-19 in the last week of July, OCTA Research disclosed Monday, August 1.

“Positivity rates are rising, indicating increasing transmission of the virus,” said Dr. Guido David, OCTA Research fellow.

David noted very high positivity rates or the number of individuals who yielded positive results from among those who were tested for Covid-19 in Capiz, Aklan, and Antique.

Capiz had the highest positivity rate among the three provinces at 51.2 percent. Aklan had 36.9 percent and Antique, 28.7 percent.

OCTA Research also recorded high positivity rates in Bohol and Negros Oriental with 28.2 percent and 27.6 percent, respectively.

As of August 1, the Department of Health-Region 6recorded 2,718 active Covid-19 cases in Western Visayas with 124 new cases.

Iloilo had the most number of new cases with 46, followed by Capiz with 21.
