DOH reports 24,100 new Covid-19 cases in the past week


The Department of Health (DOH) reported on Monday, Aug. 1, a total of 24,100 new Covid-19 cases recorded during the past week.

According to DOH's weekly case bulletin, average daily cases is at 3,443 and is 24 percent higher than in the past week from July 18 to July 24.

Among this, 76 were tagged under severe and critical cases or 0.32 percent of the total number of new cases.

DOH also recorded 44 deaths from Covid-19 in the past week but none of it occurred from July 18 to July 31. Of it, one occurred in June 2022, three in January 2022, two in November 2021, seven in October 2021, 20 in September 2021, and 11 in August 2021.

Meanwhile, there are 744 patients with severe and critical Covid-19 infection admitted which is 9.2 percent of total admissions.

On the other hand, 23.3 percent or 601 out of 2,383 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds are currently occupied while 29.5 percent or 6,505 out of 22,051 of non-ICU beds are being utilized.

As of July 31, 71,700,612 have been fully-vaccinated against Covid-19 while 16,215,466 have received booster doses.
