In an advisory issued by DepEd, the agency announced that the 2022 national launch of the “Brigada Eskwela” will be held at the Imus Pilot Elementary School in Imus, Cavite.

With the theme, “Brigada Eskwela: Tugon sa Hamon ng Ligtas na Balik Aral,” the activity aims to ensure that schools will be prepared before the opening of classes.

Vice President and DepEd Secretary Sara Duterte is expected to attend the program proper. A press conference will also be held after the national kick-off.

Also known as the National Schools Maintenance Week, the “Brigada Eskwela” has been conducted annually in public schools nationwide.

The activity, which gathers various stakeholders, is held weeks before the school opening to ensure the smooth opening of classes for the incoming school year.

Aside from DepEd teaching and non-teaching personnel, parents, and other members of the community, representatives from private and public sectors also participate in the “Brigada Eskwela.”

During the activity, facilities are assessed and repaired to ensure that the schools will be ready to welcome the students when classes officially start.

Based on DepEd Memorandum No. 34 series of 2022 or the “School Calendar and Activities for the School Year 2022-2023,” this year’s “Brigada Eskwela” will be held from Aug, 1 to Aug. 26, 2022.

Along with the “Oplan Balik Eskwela” set to start on Aug. 15, the “Brigada Eskwela” will be focusing on information campaigns, preparations, and strengthening partnerships that complement DepEd’s effort to “ensure quality basic education.”

As announced earlier, classes for public schools for SY 2022-2023 will officially start on Aug. 22.

The enrollment period, which started on July 25, will also end on the first day of classes for this SY.
