Why Isko Moreno sees being a first-time lolo a 'blessing'

Actor-politician Isko Moreno recently posted a video on Facebook where he talks about his new journey as a first-time grandparent.

He said, "Exciting and I'm happy. Actually, hindi lang ako happy, very happy. Kasi nung araw di ako naniniwala dun sa mga sabi-sabi ng mga matatanda na 'mapapalapit ka lalo sa apo mo, sa anak mo.' Iba pala talaga yung feeling, if I may borrow your word pag 'interest' na yung - kasi anak mo yung 'capital,' tas yung 'interest' yung anak. But I'm really happy and I enjoy being a grandfather. And I thanked the Lord, thanked God for this blessing."

He related: "At the very young age, ma e-enjoy kong maging lolo. So by the time siguro mag teenager yung apo ko, medyo malakas pa ako. So, depende sa point of view mo, in my case at least medyo malakas ako so we can spend more time together on physical interaction like going abroad or maybe sports."

"Tsaka ko rin siya tinitingnan na blessing kasi all my life I've been working - since 10 years old. But half of my life was dedicated to public service. So I was in a way, may utang ako sa mga anak ko ng time - na hindi ko na-enjoy masyado. I'm grateful to where I am, what I am and what we have. But at least, I could have done it better or more with regard to spending more time with family," Isko added.

"But in this case, sabi ko nga sa inyo, depende sa perspective mo. Ngayon siguro, ito blessing talaga kasi at least ma-e-enjoy kong mag-alaga ulit ng bata. Pagdating ng araw so I can spend more time with my apo. So I'm a very happy lolo. I want to be called lolo. It's okay sa akin."
