Mutya ng Pilipinas is 52 years old in 2022!  After taking a break for more than two years because of the pandemic, the pageant's leadership - through its president, Cory Quirino - announced that it is now accepting applications from interested women, both locally and abroad, for the 52nd edition of Mutya ng Pilipinas which will be held before the end of 2022.

The following major titles are at stake during the coronation night which is tentatively scheduled this coming November: Mutya ng Pilipinas 2022, Mutya ng Pilipinas - Tourism International, Mutya ng Pilipinas - Overseas Communities and Top Model of the World.

At the same time, a representative from among the 2019 Mutya ng Pilipinas ladies will also be chosen to represent the country for Miss Tourism International 2022 which will be held in Malaysia. The appointed candidate will be announced soon.

"Count on us to be there for every aspiring Filipina who wants to begin her journey towards the crown and in pageantry with Mutya ng Pilipinas. We are  happy to accept all those who are harbouring their dreams inside them, to be developed as queens. We open our arms to all Filipinas, here and abroad," Ms. Quirino stated in a media conference held at the CWC Interiors showroom in BGC, Taguig.

She added that the definition of a beauty queen is not the same as it was decades ago. " Today, the Filipina queen is a game-changer, an agent of change who can empower not just herself but her community and ultimately, her country."

"We challenge every new queen that comes along  to be more than what she is today but  - at the same time -  embrace two major themes in this year's contest: inclusivity and sustanability," Quirino said.

During the mediacon,  MNP chairman Fred Yuson also announced the creation of another core business for the group - the Miss Mutya International which will be set into motion next year.

"It will be the only Filipino-named beauty pageant which will be out there along with other big international pageants like Miss Universe, Miss World and the others," Yuson said.

As for Mutya ng Pilipinas 2022, screenings will be held in Manila this month, Cebu in August and Davao in September. Other parts of the country will be taken care of by the franchise holders, Yuson said.

Interested applicants to Mutya ng Pilipinas must be at least a high school graduate, a Filipino citizen,  single and never been married, a natural-born female, not more than 24 years old with a minimum height of 5 feet five inches. For more information, email [email protected] or call 09178011341
