PH Red Cross directs volunteers to stand by, assess earthquake-hit areas


Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Richard Gordon has directed all PRC chapters to be on stand by and assess earthquake-hit areas within their community.

Gordon also urged all local government units and the Department of Public Works and Highways to check damages in buildings and structures to ensure the safety of all.

"Remember to stay alert and vigilant for any aftershocks! PRC Ilocos Sur Chapter, PRC Abra Chapter," said PRC in a statement.

A magnitude 7.0 earthquake shook parts of Luzon, including Metro Manila, on Wednesday, July 27 at around 8:43 a.m. as per the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology.

Several houses and infrastructures in different locations were damaged.
