Ateneo Law Student Council mounts donation drive for Jeneven Bandiala

For Jeneven Bandiala, a name engraved in the heart of the Ateneo community.

In hopes of bringing comfort and aid to the families and loved ones of slain security guard Jeneven Bandiala, the student councils of Ateneo Law School and Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health launched a donation initiative to help aid in the funeral and burial services of the victim.

“Kuya Jeneven is one of the most familiar faces in ADMU. He has been the face that welcomed students, staff, friends, and family to the gates of Ateneo. He has brought so much love and light through his service, and his passing is mourned and grieved by the whole Ateneo community,” said the council.

A brazen gun attack in broad daylight, this is what killed Bandiala on Sunday afternoon, July 24. The incident took place around 2:55 p.m., hours ahead the scheduled 2022 Commencement Exercises of the Ateneo Law School at Areté, Loyola Heights Campus.

The gun attack killed three people: former Lamitan Mayor Rose Furigay, Furigay’s executive assistant Victor George Capistrano, and campus security guard Jeneven Bandiala who tried stopping the attack.

While Ateneo hopes that the donation initiative may bring a “glimmer of hope” to the bereaved family, it likewise stressed that they strongly “denounce the evil” that has transpired in the campus.

This donation drive, the council clarified, will only be open until July 26 at 6 p.m. The donations received will aid in the funeral and burial services of Bandiala and will help support his family.
