Caraga region records 102 new cases of Covid-19


BUTUAN CITY – Positive cases continue to rise as the regional office of the Department of Health (DOH Caraga Region 13) recorded 102 new cases of Covid-19 in Caraga region for the past week.

The figure was from July 16 to July 23, with three reported deaths, the regional office of the DOH 13 said in a statement sent to The Manila Bulletin.

In its new cases by province and city, the DOH 13 said Agusan del Norte registered 10 cases (Nasipit 6, Buenavista 4), Agusan del Sur 16 cases (Prosperidad 6, San Francisco 4, and one each in the municipalities of Veruela, Trento, Talacogon, Rosario, Esperanza and Bunawan), Surigao del Norte 2 (Mainit 1, General Luna 1), and Surigao del Sur registered 12 new cases (San Miguel 3, Lianga 3, Cantilan 2, and one each in the municipalities of Tago, San Agustin, Carrascal and Barobo), Province of Dinagat Islands (PDI) registered 2 cases (Dinagat 1, Cagdianao 1).

Only one case was registered in Tandag City while Cabadbaran City recorded seven cases, Bayugan City also registered six new cases and Bislig City three, it said.

Butuan city also recorded 38 new cases: JP Rizal 7, Dagohoy -6, Doongan 4, Ampayon 3, Villa Kananga-2, Taligaman-2, Baan Riverside-2, and one case each in barangays Tandang Sora, San Vicente, Masao, Los Angeles, Libertad, Dumalagan, Diego Silang, Bonbon, Bayanihan, Bading, Baan Km. 3 and Agao.

No severe or critical cases were recorded in the 102 new Covid-19 cases logged the past week in the Caraga region, the agency added.

However, with this new development, the DOH 13 Regional Director Cesar C. Cassion reminded the public ‘to take extra measures and not to be complacent about the threat of Covid-19.’

“We must continue to properly adhere to the minimum public health standards, in an effort to stop the spread of the virus,” added the DOH 13 chief.

Meanwhile, Caraga region also registered 66 new recoveries last week, bringing the total number of recoveries to 56,890.

The death toll from the virus stood at 2,218 as three Covid-19 fatalities were recorded in the past week in Caraga region.
