"We condemn in the strongest terms possible the fatal shooting of former Lamitan City mayor Rose Furigay and that of her aide and a security personnel in the Ateneo de Manila University," Hataman said.

"Kasama na ang nangyari sa kanyang anak na babae na nasugatan sa pamamaril na gawa ng nahuling salarin (We also condemn the wounding of Furigay's daughter, which the arrested suspect is responsible for)," Hataman said.

Furigay's daughter, a graduating student, was reportedly wounded during the shooting.

Furigay was killed in a shooting incident which took place during the Ateneo Law School (ALS) graduation at the Arete Art Gallery.

Two others were reported to have been killed -- Furigay's aide and a security guard of the ADMU campus.

That's what makes what happened to Mayor Rose even worse, a parent who proudly attended her child's graduation, a joyful occasion that was destroyed by meaningless violence)," Hataman said.

Mayor Rose has done so much thanks to her progressive leadership which resulted in Lamitan earning a Seal of Good Local Governance from 2016 until 2019)," he said.
