Comelec Acting Spokesperson John Rex Laudiangco explained that the applications filed are still subject for approval.

"All of them are still considered as applicants, whose applications are subject to approval or denial by the respective Election Registration Board (ERB)," he said in an interview.

Laudiangco added that oppositions may and can still be filed against applicants until July 28, 2022.

ERBs nationwide are set to hold their respective hearings on August 1.

Within five days from approval or disapproval of applications, Laudiangco said, the ERB shall "post notices in the bulletin boards of the Office of the Election Officer and city/municipal hall, stating the names and addresses of the applicants, the dates of the applications and the actions taken thereon."

"The election officer shall serve a copy of the notice either personally or by registered mail or special delivery, to the local heads or representatives of registered political parties in the city or municipality," he said.

Voter registration for the Dec. 5, 2022 BSKE ended July 23.
