Carmi Martin recalls slapping rude tourist: 'Don't you ever do that to me'

Never mess around with actress Carmi Martin.

During an interview on "TicTALK with Aster Amoyo" on YouTube last Friday, Carmi recalled an untoward incident where she slapped a tourist during a trip to the province.

"Kasi nasa probinsya kami nun, and then itong tourist guide ehh lumapit may mga kasamang turista na hindi marunong magenglish, then and sabi nung tourist guide, she's a famous actress, and then tumayo ako for a picture, aba itong turista umupo sa silya ko at hinatak ako," she said.

Carmi was stunned by the situation, and quickly got up to slap the rude tourist in the face. "Tumayo ako, at sinampal ko at sabi ko 'don't you ever do that to me, who do you think you are? Remember you are in the Philippines, you act properly.' "

The actress also sought the help of the police. 

In the same interview, the actress also talked about her years of becoming an icon in the entertainment industry. From being a breadwinner for her family, she started a part-time model, while doing her studies. Later on, she was discovered by Conde Ubaldo and started her first role in the 1980s film Dolphy's Angels.   

Throughout her career, Carmi also made a name as a comedian with her role in the 1979 sitcom Chicks to Chicks. She mentioned that one of her favorite characters is Jeanette Bayag in the film Four Sisters and A Wedding. 

"I think I nailed it, yung role talaga na maraming gumamit, most especially the campaign period masyadong nagamit si Jeanette," Carmi shared. 

From iconic characters and roles, the actress also became a Christian in 1997, Carmi became a devoted follower that helped her strive more throughout her career in both show business and personal life. 

"When I became a Christian, talagang I surrender my life to the lord, and then for three years my honeymoon with the lord, talagang lahat ng vices ko tinigil ko, naturuan din ako on how to manage my money, "Carmi mentioned. 

Despite her challenges in life, Carmi Martin remains one of the best and most well-known actresses in the entertainment industry. She thanked her closest friends Gladys Reyes, Tessie Tomas, Connie Reyes, and Roderick Paulate for being her good friends in the industry.
