Agrarian reform beneficiary in Negros gunned down in his farm


BACOLOD CITY - A beneficiary of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) was gunned down by six unidentified armed men at Sitio Lacanon 1, Barangay Libertad, Escalante City, Negros Occidental on Friday,.

Police Staff Master Sgt. Rodel Betic, case investigator of Escalante City Police Station, identified the victim as Hadjen Casipong, 41, of Barangay Libertad.

Betic said the victim was attending to his farm when the armed men arrived and shot him in the head, chest, and the body.

Police recovered from the crime scene a fired cartridge of .45 caliber firearm, and three fired cartridges of AK47.

Betic said they could not establish yet the motive in the killing. They also said they could not yet tell if it was insurgency-related.

Betic said the farm where the victim was working is far from the houses, and there could have been no one who might have witnessed the incident even if they heard gunshots from afar.
