Liza Diño signs off as Tirso Cruz III formally assumes post as FDCP head

Veteran actor Tirso Cruz III has officially assumed his duties as Chairman and CEO  of the Film Development Council of the Philippines Thursday, July 21.

This was announced by his predecessor Liza Diño.

On Facebook, the wife of singer-songwriter Ice Seguerra noted how it's been a "true honor" to serve the industry that she loves so much for the last six years.

“Good evening everyone. This afternoon, chair Tirso Cruz III came to the office for a meeting and to officially assume his duties as the new FDCP chairman effective today, July 21, 2022," she said in a video.

“Our team was able to present the FDCP’s programs and accomplishments for the last six years. With this new development, I would like to assure you of my continued support to this new leadership for a smooth transition.”

She also took the opportunity to thank everyone for their love, support, and trust.

“Maraming-maraming salamat po sa inyong lahat. Mabuhay po kayong lahat at mabuhay ang pelikulang Pilipino. This is chair Liza, signing off.”

Early this month, Liza was instructed to continue to perform her duties as chairperson and CEO of the agency in a “holdover capacity” to ensure the continuity of the agency’s operations while the official appointment of incoming chairman Tirso Cruz III is still pending.

Then, she related that she and Tirso have already discussed details regarding the turnover process.

Liza served the national film agency as an appointee of then-President Rodrigo Roa Duterte starting in 2016.

Her term was extended until 2021.

Last March, Duterte re-appointed Liza as FDCP chair anew.

She was supposed to serve another three-year term that would last until 2025 but for Tirso’s appointment.
