Bacolod Mayor Benitez elected League of Cities national chairperson


BACOLOD CITY – Mayor Alfredo Abelardo “Albee” Benitez here was elected national chairperson of the League of Cities of the Philippines (LCP).

Benitez, along with other newly elected LCP officials, took their oath of office before Interior and Local Government Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr. during the 69th LCP General Assembly at Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria in Quezon City Thursday, July 21.

As national chairperson, Benitez leads the highest policy making body of LCP.

Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama was elected LCP president. This was the post also held by former Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia.

LCP or League of Cities is the official organization of the 145-strong member-cities in the Philippines and was established in 1988. It has a National Executive Board.

The League Secretariat is under the leadership of its Executive Director and jointly supervised by the National President and Secretary-General.
