Taguig’s total weekly new Covid-19 cases now at 510 


Taguig City’s weekly tally of new Covid-19 cases totaled more than 500 amid the detection of more cases of Omicron sub-variants in the country.

Based on data from the Department of Health’s Covid-19 Tracker, Taguig recorded a total of 510 cases from July 12 to 18, up by 81 cases or 19 percent compared to 429 cases from July 5 to 11.

Taguig added 63 new Covid-19 cases on July 20, bringing the total active cases to 598 out of 85,409 confirmed cases, 84,270 recoveries, and 541 deaths based on the Covid-19 Tracker data.

In its own report, the Taguig City government said there were 201 new Covid-19 cases detected in the city from July 10 to 16. There were 41 people who were admitted to hospitals.

It said Taguig remains at a low-risk level with an average daily attack rate (ADAR) of 3.11 per 100,000. The ADAR is a seven-day average of new cases per 100,000 population.

Based on the Covid-19 Tracker, as of July 20, the National Capital Region has 7,829 active cases out of 1.19 million confirmed cases, 1.17 million recoveries and 13,003 deaths.

There are 20,678 active cases nationwide out of 3.37 million total cases, 3.65 million recoveries, and 60,641 deaths.

The Philippines has detected over 800 additional cases of the Omicron sub-variant BA.5 in almost all regions, the Department of Health (DOH) said Wednesday.

In a briefing on July 20, DOH officer-in-charge Maria Rosario Vergeire announced that the country had detected 816 new BA.5 cases, 42 BA.4 sub-variant cases, and 52 new BA.2.12.1 cases.
