After announcing the sequel of Dennis Villeneuve's award-winning sci-fi film "Dune" earlier this year, production has now started.

The film's official Twitter account posted a photo with the caption: "We’re rolling. Production on Dune: Part Two has begun. #DuneMovie."

"Dune 2" is set to premiere in October 2023 but due to Covid-19 restrictions, Warner Bros decided to push it back to November 2023. Aside from the official start of production, Warner Bros and Legendary Entertainment unveiled the plot for the second part of the award-winning film.

The story follows the mythic journey of Paul Atreides as he unites with Chani and the Fremen while on a warpath of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. Facing a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he endeavors to prevent a terrible future only he can foresee.

The original cast from the first part will be returning for the sequel - Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides. The Oscar nominee will once again be joined by Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Charlotte Rampling, and Stephen McKinley Henderson.

Earlier this year, Warner Bros has also confirmed that “Elvis” breakout Austin Butler as the notorious Feyd Rautha and Christopher Walken as the Emperor, plus Florence Pugh, Léa Seydoux, and Souheila Yacoub will be joining the sequel.
