Don’t text or call: Woman busy with cellphone while driving cheats death in Isabela

SAN MANUEL, Isabela – Don’t text or call while driving or else it might cost you your life.

A woman busy with her cellphone cheated death after the Isuzu DMAX she was driving fell into a rice field while avoiding a pedestrian here Monday, July 18.

The PNP did not identify the driver.

Investigation conducted by the local police said the woman was using her cellular phone while driving.

Her cellphone fell on the floor and bent down to reach the device. The woman failed to notice that somebody is crossing the road.

She looked up and was shocked to see the pedestrian. She yanked the steering of her Isuzu DMax to the left to avoid the pedestrian.

The vehicle went straight into a rice field and residents had to help her get out of the vehicle.

Other than a lesson learned the hard way, the woman was reportedly relatively safe.

Police have once again reminded the public not to use a cellular phone while driving to avoid accidents.
