New registrants breach 1 million mark - Comelec


The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has so far received more than 1 million applications for voter registration

As of July 14, the 10th day of registration, Comelec said that there are a total of 1,209,888 new registrations.

These include voters who are aged 15 to 17 at 761,684; 18 to 30 at 383,836 and 31 years old and above at 64,368.

Comelec also received other types of applications such as Applications for Transfer from Other Cities/Municipalities at 204,708; Applications for Transfer from within the same City/Municipality at 52,174; and Applications for Transfer with Reactivation at 8,534.

Comele also received  Applications for Transfer with Reactivation and Correction of Entries at 3,100; Applications for Transfer with Correction of Entries at 10,544; Applications for Reactivation at 55,643; Applications for Reactivation with Correction of Entries at 13,062; Applications for Change of Names/Correction of Entries at 36,583; Applications for Inclusion of Record in the Book of Voters at 51; Applications for Reinstatement of Name in the List of Voters at 17; and Applications for Transfer from Overseas Voting to Local at 3,480.

As of July 14 the poll body has processed a total of 1,597,784 applications.

Voter registration resumed last July 4 and will end on July 23, 2022.
