Malay cops step up drive vs criminal elements, wanted persons

Following President Marcos’ order to ensure peace and order in tourist spots, the Malay Municipal Police Station has stepped up drive against criminal elements in the town that include the world-famous Boracay Island.

Police Lt. Col. Don Dicksie de Dios, chief of police of Malay town, said six wanted persons were arrested in the campaign to account fugitives while three more were collared in the intensified drive against illegal gambling.

Nabbed during an illegal gambling operation in Boracay were Alvin Gelito, Darlie Fabunan, and NIda Garcia.

“The cases against the suspects were filed before the Provincial Prosecutors' Office in Kalibo, Aklan through inquest proceedings,” said De Dios.

He said the six wanted persons arrested in various operations in the town that also include the Boracay Island are facing various criminal charges, one of them is a foreigner facing charges relating to tax laws.

De Dios said they were already presented to the courts which issued the arrest warrants against them.

He then commended his men for relentless efforts during the extensive manhunt operations.

‘This only shows that the Malay PNP is committed in its fight against illegal gambling and wanted persons. Our relentless efforts on launching operations will continue and we will strictly impose the full force of the law as it steps up its campaign against all forms of lawlessness to minimize criminality in Malay," said De Dios.
