The Las Piñas City Disaster Risk and Reduction Management (DRRM) conducted an inter-barangay “First Aid Olympic” in celebration of the National Disaster Resilience Month with the theme "Sambayanang Pilipino, nagkakaisa tungo sa katatagan at maunlad na kinabukasan.”
Mayor Imelda Aguilar said the event, participated in by members of Barangay Emergency Response Teams, was held at the Aguilar Sports Complex on July 14.
Aguilar said the DRRM conducted the contest to let the responders show their skills and knowledge on proper management and care of patients suffering from trauma and medical emergencies.
She said the activity also aimed at honouring the emergency responders for their dedication and contribution to the city in times of calamity, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The mayor said Barangay Ilaya was named champion and also best in CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation). Pamplona Uno was adjudged first runner up while Zapote was second runner up.
Aguilar said Talon Kuatro was Best in Bandaging Technique; Pulanglupa Dos, Best in Transfer Technique; Zapote, Best in Situational Analysis; Pamplona Uno, Best in Patient Extrication; Talon Uno, Best in Uniform; and Pulanglupa Dos, Most Organized Team.
