New access road expected to boost tourism in Zambo Sibugay


The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed an access road in Zamboanga Sibugay which is expected to boost local tourism in the province.

DPWH Region 9 Director Cayamombao D. Dia said the newly-built road provides access to the Kigay Sandbar Beach in the Municipality of Malangas,

The access road leading to Kigay Sandbar Beach Falls is one of the convergence projects under the Tourism Roads Infrastructure Program (TRIP) of DPWH and the Department of Tourism (DOT).

The road is 930 meters long is seen to provide better access for tourists visiting the pristine beaches of Barangay Kigay. 

“Aside from the promotion of the emerging tourist spot, the road improvement is also set to bolster additional livelihood sources and improve mobility of goods and services to the area,” said Dia.

The project cost P7.2-million and involved road concreting and slope protection works implemented by DPWH Zamboanga Sibugay First District Engineering Office (DEO).
