The 7-foot center and the Rizing Zephyr made the announcement on Saturday, July 9 through their respective social media pages.

“I’m thrilled to announce that I have signed with Rizing Zephyr Fukuoka (@rz_fukuoka) of the B.League for the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 seasons. I’m looking forward to joining the team and playing for their great city and fans,” wrote Slaughter in an Instragram post.

“Thank you to everyone involved in making this possible and thank you to the club for being so welcoming and generous to me and my family! Most of all, thank you to all that believe in me. Please continue supporting me on this journey and the Rizing Zephyr! Let’s do this!,” he added.

Slaughter, a four-time PBA champion and one-time Best Player of the Conference awardee, hasn’t seen action since the 2021 Governors’ Cup after his contract negotiation with NorthPort hit an impasse before eventually deciding to not re-sign with the team and become a restricted free-agent.

He only played four games with the Batang Pier that conference and averaged 14.3 points, 9.3 rebounds and 1.3 blocks. He is joining a Fukoaka team that is coming off a 20-30 record last season.

Slaughter will join Kobe Paras (Altiri Chiba) and Jordan Heading (Nagasaki Velca) in the Division II.
